You will leave with some tools that you can take with you and do anytime, The best part is you can share this magic with anyone anytime. Making the world a better place by reclaiming our bodies and our hearts, better ableing us to have better connections and understanding, therefore bettering the world one connection at a time. In times of trouble and times of joy, we dance. We do not get hurt alone and we do not heal alone. The Spiritual Dance awaits my friends.

June 21, 2016
Last Wednesday night at the Willits High School Auditorium Long Valley Dance accomplished another spectacular annual dance showcase performance. The auditorium was nearly full of friends and family enjoying over eighty dancers performing twenty different dance pieces.
Each year we work very hard putting together our dance recital. Most of our dance classes begin meeting once a week in September, so by the time June rolls around each group has nearly forty hours of dancing together. Many of our students take more than one class per week, thus multiplying the time that they get to bond with their teachers and peers. All of this hard work really pays off. You can see it in clean unison dancing and crisp formations. You can see it in eager, bright smiles that display the confidence that comes from gaining mastery of the material and from having a lot of fun with friends.
Of course there would be no Long Valley Dance without our dance instructors and choreographers: Crystal Facer, Shaina Maxwell, Carmen Day, Amanda Scopen, Tara Steven. To these women and to the other members of the Long Valley Dance Collective: Michelle Hill, Cecelia Gillespie, Marjorie Golden and Marli Rogers, I offer my deepest gratitude for bringing your talents and creative energy to our performance.
I want to acknowledge each and every one of our dancers who made this year’s performance one of the best ever. I also want to thank the families who make it possible for our students to participate in our dance programs. There are some parents whose participation we could not do without. Patrice Byarlay, thank you for always being there to attend to details small and large, and for always encouraging me to grow Long Valley Dance into an organization that will continue to serve our community for years to come. I would like to thank Jackie Rubie for putting together a sweet raffle that really helped to increase amount of fundraising that we were able to do. Thank you to Erin Neuroth, Jennifer Neuroth, Rosemary George, Holly Udby, Abbey Holmes-Doyle and Sarah Shelly for helping to keep the back stage areas safe and relaxed for the kids.
I would like to thank members of generous business community for donating prizes for our raffle: Park-n-Take it, Geiger’s Long Valley Market, Weathertop Nursery, Halo Honey, The Fountain of You, Video Outreach, The Big Chief, Sho ‘Nuff Dem Biscuits, Napa Auto Parts. Also thanks to Spyrock School’s parent committee, for ongoing support.
Every year we do so much work to get ready for our big show. But in the end the show sprouts its own wings and takes off. I am always amazed when it is over, by how quickly and smoothly it all goes by.
I am touched by the sweet hugs and gifts that my students present me with. I am overwhelmed by the enthusiasm and gratitude expressed by parents, grandparents and friends. I am exhausted from the expense of energy that it takes to make it all happen. And, most of all, I cannot wait to do it all over again.
Long Valley Dance’s youth dance program is on summer break until school starts again in September. Please check our website, www.longvalleydance.org, for our upcoming fall schedule. In the meantime, we will continue to hold adult dance, yoga and fitness classes throughout the summer.
